Welcome to Rub My Belly Doggie Spa!

Inspired by

Sachi.

In the summer of 2007 I adopted a Bichon Frise puppy. When we locked eyes and I received my very first head tilt, I knew she was the one for me! I was so happy and excited to adopt her and give her a loving home! Before picking her up, I bought a few things to get started like, food, bowls, blankets, toys, treats, and a crate for training. How hard could this be? Oh boy, was I in for a big surprise!

Her potty training didn’t really exist outside due to her love of indoor carpet. She loved chewing on shoes, socks, underwear, clothes, corners of anything, windowsills, pillow cases, and toilet paper.

As challenging as her training was going, I also noticed her scratching and chewing on her paws. Her many trips to the vet’s office consisted of changing her food and having allergy testing done. The issue was that she is allergic to everything that a dog needs to be successful, like grass and food! Oh wait, there is more!

Finding out what her allergies were was just the beginning. Sachi seemed to always have a hot-spot, flare-ups and fanny scoots across the carpet. She was put on medications and steroid shots, which led to more problems, like constant urinating. You can only imagine! Anyway, after trial and error, I found a special food, fish oil, and antihistamines to control her allergies. Could there be more? Of course!

When she was old enough to get her first haircut, she had a bad skin reaction to the grooming process. Back to the vet we went! She was given a lamp shade and skin wraps (which she would just eat, so not sure why that was a good idea)! Her skin is so sensitive that my groomer needed to resort to a special shampoo, extra moisturizing conditioner, and a scissor cut going forward.

I know what it is like to consider your animal as a part of your family. I know how important it is to give gentle, loving care to our little ones. I understand the delicate needs of animals with allergies and skin conditions. I believe that it is important to groom our little ones on a regular basis to keep them clean and healthy. Your family members will be safe, comfortable, and relaxed at Rub My Belly Doggie Spa.

Finally, if you have read this far, you may also be interested in how I came up with the name for my grooming salon. As you can probably guess I simply can’t resist providing anything and everything my little girl needs. Numerous times a day Sachi will roll over on her back with her legs up in the air and seemingly say “Rub My Belly!” Of course I cave and give her a belly rub, providing her with the love and attention she wants, needs, and deserves.
